A Bellingham Native Providing Online Therapy in Washington
Bellingham is more than a city I serve. It is where I grew up.
As someone raised in Bellingham and native to the Pacific Northwest, I understand the local culture and the experience of living in a community shaped by Bellingham Bay, evergreen forests, gray winters, college life, healthcare work, and easy access to the outdoors.
I also understand that living in a beautiful place does not make someone immune to anxiety, trauma, depression, loneliness, burnout, or relationship difficulties.
After growing up in Bellingham, I spent much of my adult life abroad and earned degrees in Italy and Spain. Those experiences broadened how I understand culture, identity, relationships, and the different ways people create meaningful lives. Before becoming a therapist, I also worked as a psychometrist and marketer.
Today, I provide secure online counseling to people in Bellingham, throughout Whatcom County, and across Washington State. Whether you live near Fairhaven, Sehome, Sunnyland, Barkley Village, South Hill, Columbia, the Lettered Streets, Lake Whatcom, or elsewhere in the Bellingham area, you can attend therapy from a private and comfortable location without driving across town.
Online Counseling for Bellingham Students and Professionals
Bellingham brings together college students, healthcare professionals, educators, small-business owners, remote workers, artists, tradespeople, and people navigating major life transitions.
Each group experiences its own pressures, even when those struggles are not visible to others.
Therapy for Western Washington University Students
Students at Western Washington University may be managing academic pressure, changing relationships, identity development, uncertainty about the future, or the transition into adulthood.
Some students are far from their established support systems. Others grew up locally and are trying to define themselves outside family expectations or familiar roles.
Online therapy can provide a private space to address concerns such as:
Academic stress and perfectionism
Anxiety about grades or the future
Social anxiety and difficulty forming connections
Dating and relationship concerns
Sexuality and identity
Family expectations
Low self-confidence
Major decisions about life after college
Therapy can help you better understand the patterns affecting your choices while developing practical tools to move forward.
Therapy for Whatcom Community College Students
Students at Whatcom Community College may be balancing classes with work, caregiving, financial pressure, family responsibilities, or a major change in direction.
Returning to school, changing careers, or trying to build a more stable future can be exciting and stressful at the same time.
In therapy, we may work on managing stress, improving follow-through, strengthening self-confidence, setting boundaries, and identifying patterns that make it harder to pursue your goals.
Therapy for PeaceHealth Healthcare Workers
Healthcare professionals working at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center and other healthcare settings in the Bellingham area may regularly face high workloads, emotional exhaustion, difficult decisions, and exposure to other people’s suffering.
You may be skilled at caring for patients while finding it much harder to acknowledge your own needs.
Therapy can help with:
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Compassion fatigue
Chronic workplace stress
Difficult patient or workplace experiences
Emotional detachment
Anxiety before or after shifts
Trouble transitioning out of work mode
Relationship strain related to demanding schedules
Feeling responsible for everyone around you
Online counseling can make it easier to attend sessions without adding another drive or appointment location to an already demanding schedule.
Therapy for Professionals Who Appear Successful but Feel Stuck
Some of the people I work best with are responsible, intelligent, and highly capable.
Others may not realize how much they are struggling because they continue meeting deadlines, going to work, helping family members, and managing daily responsibilities.
Internally, however, they may feel anxious, restless, dissatisfied, emotionally disconnected, or uncertain about what is missing.
You may:
Overthink decisions
Avoid difficult conversations
Feel responsible for other people’s emotions
Choose emotionally unavailable partners
Struggle to relax without feeling guilty
Repeat behaviors you already know are not helping
Feel successful on paper but unfulfilled in daily life
Understand your patterns without knowing how to change them
Therapy offers an opportunity to examine what is happening underneath those patterns and begin responding differently.
Concerns I Help Bellingham Therapy Clients Address
I provide online counseling for adults experiencing concerns such as:
Anxiety and persistent overthinking
Trauma and symptoms related to PTSD
Chronic stress and emotional exhaustion
Difficult childhood experiences that continue to affect adult life
Relationship and attachment difficulties
Recurring conflict or communication problems
Perfectionism and fear of failure
Social anxiety and low self-confidence
Grief, loss, and major life transitions
Men’s mental health concerns
LGBTQ+ identity and relationship concerns
Feeling disconnected, unfulfilled, or uncertain about what comes next
You do not need to fit neatly into a diagnosis or arrive with a perfect explanation of what is wrong. We can begin with what you are experiencing and work together to better understand it.
Therapy for Men in Bellingham, WA
Many men have learned to respond to distress by working harder, withdrawing, distracting themselves, minimizing their needs, or trying to solve everything alone.
These strategies may work for a while, but they can eventually contribute to anxiety, anger, emotional distance, loneliness, relationship conflict, or a sense that life has become mechanical.
I offer therapy for men who want to better understand themselves without being judged or reduced to stereotypes. This includes straight, gay, bisexual, and questioning men dealing with concerns such as:
Anxiety and chronic stress
Trauma and difficult past experiences
Relationship and attachment patterns
Difficulty expressing emotions
Body-image concerns
Sexual concerns
Perfectionism
Loneliness and social disconnection
Life transitions
Questions about identity, purpose, or direction
Therapy does not have to consist only of discussing feelings without direction. We can explore where your patterns originated while also identifying concrete ways to respond differently in your daily life.
LGBTQ+ Affirming Online Therapy in Bellingham
I strive to provide an affirming space for gay men, lesbian women, bisexual people, and adults questioning their sexuality.
Therapy can help you explore identity, come out safely, navigate dating and relationships, process rejection or difficult religious experiences, and feel more comfortable being yourself.
Even in a generally accepting community, LGBTQ+ adults may experience shame, family tension, body-image pressure, isolation, relationship difficulties, or uncertainty about where they belong.
You should not have to spend the beginning of therapy educating your therapist about the basic realities of LGBTQ+ life before discussing what brought you to counseling.
Anxiety Therapy in Bellingham, WA
Anxiety can affect much more than your thoughts. It may influence your relationships, sleep, work performance, confidence, physical tension, and ability to enjoy your life.
You might find yourself repeatedly reviewing conversations, preparing for worst-case scenarios, avoiding unfamiliar situations, or struggling to feel satisfied after accomplishing something.
In anxiety therapy, we may work on:
Understanding what triggers anxious reactions
Identifying conditioned beliefs and fears
Reducing avoidance
Challenging unhelpful thought patterns
Improving emotional regulation
Building tolerance for uncertainty
Responding differently to physical symptoms of anxiety
Developing greater confidence in your decisions
My approach combines insight with practical action. Rather than simply telling you not to worry, we will examine what maintains the anxiety and identify ways to interrupt the cycle.
Trauma and PTSD Therapy for Bellingham Residents
Difficult experiences can continue affecting the nervous system long after the original event has ended.
You may intellectually understand that you are safe while still experiencing fear, shame, intrusive memories, emotional numbness, physical tension, or strong reactions to reminders of the past.
Trauma is not limited to one type of event. It may involve:
Abuse or neglect
Difficult childhood experiences
Loss or abandonment
Medical experiences
Relationship trauma
Bullying or rejection
Accidents or frightening events
Exposure to violence
Experiences related to identity or discrimination
Repeated situations in which you felt powerless or unsafe
I use EMDR to help clients process distressing experiences and reduce the emotional intensity connected to them. Depending on your needs, I may also integrate Cognitive Processing Therapy-informed strategies and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
The goal is not to erase your memories. It is to help the past feel more like something that happened rather than something that is still happening.
Relationship Therapy for Individuals in Bellingham
You do not need to attend therapy with a partner to work on relationship concerns.
Individual therapy can help you better understand why you are drawn to certain people, why the same conflicts keep appearing, or why it can feel difficult to communicate your needs directly.
We may explore concerns such as:
Fear of rejection or abandonment
Difficulty trusting others
People-pleasing
Avoidance of conflict
Jealousy or insecurity
Choosing unavailable partners
Difficulty setting boundaries
Repeating familiar relationship dynamics
Feeling disconnected within a relationship
Recovering from a breakup or betrayal
Uncertainty about whether to remain in a relationship
Relationship patterns often make more sense when we understand the experiences and beliefs that shaped them. Greater awareness can help you make more intentional choices rather than automatically repeating what is familiar.
My Approach to Therapy
My clinical approach is informed by Adlerian and psychodynamic therapy.
I believe that when we become more aware of our conditioned beliefs, emotional reactions, and behavioral patterns, we gain greater freedom to respond differently.
Early experiences can shape how we interpret relationships, protect ourselves from rejection, and decide what we believe we must do to feel valued. Understanding those patterns is important, but insight alone is not always enough.
Therapy with me also focuses on action.
Between sessions, I may suggest behavioral challenges that I call “missions.” These are personalized opportunities to practice something new, test an assumption, approach an avoided situation, or interrupt a familiar pattern.
Missions are collaborative. They are not assignments imposed on you. They are designed to help the work we do in therapy carry over into your everyday life.
Therapy Approaches I May Use
Depending on your needs and goals, I may integrate:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR
Cognitive Processing Therapy-informed interventions
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Adlerian therapy
Psychodynamic therapy
Motivational Interviewing
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Mindfulness
Guided imagery
Practical behavioral challenges between sessions
You do not need to choose a specific therapy method before contacting me. During a free consultation, I can explain how I work and discuss which approaches may be appropriate for your concerns.

Why Work With a Therapist Who Grew Up in Bellingham?
Finding a therapist who understands your community can make it easier to feel known without having to explain every local reference or cultural detail.
I understand the rhythms of life in Bellingham, from the influence of Western Washington University and PeaceHealth to the long winters, outdoor culture, proximity to Canada, and the mix of lifelong residents, college students, healthcare workers, and newcomers.
At the same time, my years living abroad have given me a broader perspective on identity, culture, relationships, and major life transitions.
My goal is to offer therapy that feels both personally grounded and open-minded.
